Glass Building

Zinc oxide is an important component in the production of glass and ceramics. The relatively high heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and high-temperature stability of zinc oxide combined with a comparatively low coefficient of expansion are desirable properties in the production of ceramics. It is primarily used as a fluxing agent in the preparation of ceramic glass and enamels for ceramics. Zinc oxide is also used to lower the melting temperature of glazes while increasing their brilliance.

Zinc oxide is also used in the manufacture of glass cookware, heat-resistant glass, artistic glass, ccrystalline glass and speciality glass applications such as adaptive photochomic lenses.
